Ride Like The Wind asked:

I’m assuming all of these areas are suitable for horses, since they were listed on a site made to lost horse properties, but I’m going to explore that a bit. So, I found these horse properties, located in both Maine, and New York. After looking at these properties, which area would you say is best suited for horses?
1)

2)

3)

Those three properties are in our price range, and would have a wide margin for renovations, as well as vet care cost.

We have a budget of $300,00, maybe a bit more, we are not quite sure yet. Anyways, we love the above three properties, but which area, and property would be most suitable for horses, and possibly agriculture?

I have two horses, and my friend has one, and we also board 1, or 2 horses at a time (not currently, of course)
I have to say, a ‘double trailer’ does not sound good. As nice as the land is, the house has to be somewhat nice also. So, out of the first two, which do you think is most suitable? Plus, we’d also like to stay in Maine, which is why we both like the first two.

I like the 3rd as well, but I think it all depends on how many horses you want, what you want to do with them, and how much work you’re willing to put into the property.

wha were they thinkin? on 10 July, 2009 at 11:56 pm #

LANDON

i guess they’re nice if that’s what you want, i’d personally want something with more land so the fields dont get over grazed and you dont have to worry as much. but that’s just my opinion.
if you like em, flip a coin, if you want to look some more try this website:
landandfarm.com.
they have horse, hunting, farming properties from 5-2,000+ acres. . . and all priece ranges, you can(if you looked hard enough) prob find a nice place with more land then those 3. but if your hearts set on one of them, like i said flip a coin, i wouldnt take any of em.

I would say the 3rd one. It looks like it has the safest / nicest barn of the 3. It also has a lot of field space for the horses. It’s up to you though

I don’t like the first one except for the acreage and location. I don’t think much of the house for what you would pay for it. It only has one bath and from the look of it, it probably hasn’t been modernized. The electrical and plumbing are probably old and old house like that usually don’t have closets.
The third one. $125,000 less than the other two and there is 10 acres, but the house looks like it is a double wide trailer.

The only negative I see about the second one is that their is only five acres. The house looks and sounds real good.

I think it is a toss up between the 2nd and 3rd. If you want a nice house, go with the second one, but if you don’t mind the trailer, go with the 3rd because of the price and the land.

I would stay way from the third one. Double wides don’t hold there value very well and fall apart. Both house’s look to be in nice shape inside from the pictures.
The first house has nice wood walls inside and I love the flooring in the bathroom of the second house. The barn in the second one was awesome.
