Back in November (Of 2005), a good friend left her Quarter/Arabian horse at my home to board. She has not contacted us since. I know posession is 9/10ths of the law, but is there a law that her horse can legally stay at my home (With no contact at all, or money from her, I have not even recieved a letter or a phone call) before it becomes my property and no longer hers? I have tried to contact her to no avail. I get either her answering machine or she answers and asks me to call her back at another time, because she is busy. When I do, I get the same two responses. So, really now. Is there a law that her horse can legally become mine without me purchasing it? She’s basically abanoned him here. I give him the love and affection he needs
Her and I did not sign a written paper contract on the boarding of the horse. I had two other horses from her in the past, recived one as a gift (And payment for working for her). When I was working for her, the horse in question was born, and I assisted in raising him from a foal. I do not plan on selling him (Ever, even if he does become mine).

Neighbor shot my horse because it was on his property. The officer told me that he could do that because the horse is trespassing? Does this sound right . He has my cell number and he should had call the police before he shot my horse. Why didn’t the officer charge him for cuelty to animals. What should I do.

A neighbor has a horse stable on the property behind my home. He has taken to dumping the manure from the stables very near the property line at the back of my house. The smell and the flies are becoming a huge problem. Do I have any recourse to stop him from doing this?

I have cared for this horse for 2 years. Showed proof to the police with feed bills and vet bills but to no avail they just let her take my horse. She gave me the horse when I let her put her horse on my property free of charge and we split the feed bills for awhile. As time went on my husband and I ended up taking all the responabilty for both horses. She asked us if she could take our horse to the beach Memorial weekend and we said no and thats when it all started. On May 30 as I walked out side her and 2 police officers walked up my driveway. They asked me if she owned the horse and I said no, that she had given it to me 2 years ago when she put her other horse on my property and she told them that that wasn’t true. So they let her just take my horse. Now I have to take her to court and try to get my horse back.
The police had no warrant she had no papers on the horse the police where her friends.
She just got mad because my husband told her no she couldn’t take the horse to the beach. The next morning when she picked up her horse to go to the beach why didn’t she have the police then. It was a week later when she came back for my horse. I asked the police where is your warrant they said they didnt need one.
Dakkota is my horse and Nikki is her’s. She gave me Dakkota a black and white paint, when we let her put her horse Nikki on our property free of charge. I have known this girl since she was a little girl. I went to school with her mother. She had no where to put these horses and could not feed them both. When we got the horses they where a bag of bones. I had cared and loved both of these horses and made sure they had everything they needed. I have feed bills and vet bills a mile long for Dakkota. I even showed the police the coggins papers from the vet with my signature as owner with the vet signature. And Nikki’s coggin papers with her signature as owner and they told me that wasn’t enough proof. So whats wrong with this picture I ask.

The horses (3 of them) have been here since December 20th and I have not been compensated at all for their care. I don’t want her to be able to come and remove them without paying her bill first. Do I have to go thru small claims or is there another way I can protect myself? Thanks!

I wrote in about a month ago about my horse being taken from me. Well the day has finally comes tomorrow to see if I get her back or not. I went to court 3 weeks ago with all me evidence of feed and vet bills and the person came to court with nothing. But the judge took it in consideration and the and now we get the verdict tomorrow. If anyone would like to read what I wrote a month just go into the search and put Horse taken off my property. Come to find out the 2 officers that came onto my property with this person is good friends with her parents. The officers never made a police report on the indicent. I even got a email from the Asst. Police Chief saying that the police should have never got involed in the first place. When the judge read the the email he was mad because she and the officers took my rights away from me. Please give me some input on the matter, its going to be a long night for me.

Thanks Jan S

My X promised to buy my kids a horse 2 years ago. But after finding the right horse, he made them both pay 1/3 of the horse, 1/3 of the horse trailer that needed some work (he’s never done) and my daughter bought her brother out for $500-what she paid for 1 month of pro training. When she told “dad’ she wanted to sell the horse since she doesn’t go there much, he said “NO! I have $400 invested so you MUST breed her & sell the foal for $1200 & pay him 1/2! Can a 13 yr old sue her dad in small claims? He’s a total A$$! Has treated her like dirt since 6/7 when she refused to live w/him. I can’t pay a lawyer but I heard that if a kid asks, they get a lawyer free, true?

6-7 horses normally on property, but have had a dozen or more “go through” and adopted out under contract. In PA LAW, and for zoning, is this considered an Agricultural Operation? Any codes or case law to back it up either way?
